The idea
The break of the last N bars' high or low starts a move.
Why it feels right
Same picture as the opening range, with a movable window.
What the data said
Breakout direction is dead across windows; the only thing that held up in our lab is entering at the wall from both sides (a straddle), which is not what the videos teach.
A rule that works on one market and fails on the next four is a coincidence with a chart. Every survivor must transfer; the opening-range weekday effect replicated on the Nasdaq and failed everywhere else.
The moves that run do not come back to be bought at a ratio. A pullback entry systematically selects the breakouts that failed. 60 of 60 cells lost.

* dollars made or lost per trade on a $10,000 position, after trading costs. Green = a profit that passed our checks. Black = a profit we could not tell from luck. Grey = too few trades to trust.
